Learning outcomes

The overall aim of this course is to offer students in the Master Programme in Materials Engineering an opportunity to deepen their knowledge in an area not covered by the regular courses in the program. It is done by individual studies of research papers and other academic literature.

On completion of the course the student shall be able to:

  • use previous knowledge in materials engineering to plan their studies within a chosen branch of materials engineering,
  • summarise and assess the acquired knowledge of the chosen area in materials engineering,
  • integrate, generalise and combine prior knowledge in materials engineering,
  • communicate scientific results in both written and oral form.

The content is defined together with the program coordinator and program advisor to promote further studies within a particular specialisation of the Master programme in Materials Engineering.

Self studies. Supervision of litterature study.

Written report of a literature study and oral presentation of the litterature study.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
