Join our Friday Seminar in Africa Studies, entitled Speaking Truth and Science to Power: War Crimes Testimonies and Ministerial Debate on Sudan with Peace and Conflict Researcher Johan Brosché on how to communicate research and research results to powerful acotrs and institutions.
Societal engagement is now a core expectation for higher education institutions, with the Higher Education Act requiring that research and education involve collaboration and deliver benefit to society. Yet, training in how to communicate research beyond academia remains limited.
In this seminar, Associate Professor Johan Brosché, Dept. of Peace and Conflict Research, offers firsthand lessons from working at the intersection of evidence and power. Drawing on extensive public engagement — including 100+ media appearances, 20+ op-eds, debates with ministers, UN policy work, and court testimony on war crimes in Sudan — Brosché shares practical insights on bringing research evidence into political and public arenas.
Welcome all!
