Nine AI-researchers visited Uppsala
Nine emerging researchers from the Africa-Europe Cluster of Research Excellence in AI (CoRE AI) visited Uppsala. The CoRE AI is a research network that brings together universities from Africa and Europe. The aim is to strengthen research and postgraduate education in Artificial Intelligence (AI), data science, and computational thinking.
AI is used as a tool to address global societal challenges, such as climate change, food security, and social justice.
The cluster collaboration is led by an international group of researchers and is funded by seed money from universities within:
- The ARUA (African Research Universities Alliance)
- The Guild (European Research-Intensive Universities)
Over the course of two months, September-October 2025, the visiting researchers took part in and contributed to ongoing projects in AI, data science, and computational thinking – while also experiencing the Swedish autumn. The nine are also part of the inaugural Uppsala School for Africa Studies.
