Forum researcher Dr. Kajsa Hallberg Adu was invited to join the Meanings and Measures of Migration Aspirations workshop which took place in Oslo, 8-9 January 202. It was organized by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) Migration centre and led by Professor Jørgen Carling and Tone Sommerfeldt in the Future Migrations as Present Fact (FUMI) ERC -funded project. Naiara Rodruíguez-Pena from Universität für Weiterbildung Krems was a third organiser.

Hallberg Adu presented a paper on the changes of migration aspiration over time: “‘I am so so very not sure’: What longitudinal qualitative research reveals about Ghanaian university students and recent graduates’ migration aspiration” and argued that although migration aspirations have been described as "inherently elusive", many studies treat them as static. She suggested qualitative "slow" research can reveal how aspirations develop, change and interact with broader social and political realities.

25 migration researchers from Europe, Africa and beyond attended the workshop and a special issue is being prepared as a result of the workshop.
