Technoscience research group goes to Washington DC

A seven-member delegation of Sámi scholars, parliamentarians, activists and community members will participate at the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, NAISA, Annual Meeting in Washington DC, June 4- 6th, 2015 (www.naisa.org).

Apart from attending the NAISA meeting the following activities are scheduled:

- Meeting with US State Department’s Special Representative for the Arctic Admiral Robert J. Papp

- Reception at the Swedish Embassy in Washington DC invited by  the Swedish ambassador to the US, Mr Björn Lyrvall

- Lecture on Sámi Archaeology at National Museum of Natural History, June 4 at 12.00-1.00

- Meeting and exchange of information workshop with Baltimore

Participants are

- Mr. Inge Frisk, Community member / Sámi Association in Stockholm, affiliated to the Technoscience Research group

- Ms. Lis-Mari Hjortfors, PhD candidate / Department of language studies, Sami studies, CeSam (Center for Sámi research) Umeå university, Sweden

- Ms. Kaisa Huuva, Adviser in Saami issues at Church of Sweden - the Central Church Office.

- Dr. Gunilla Larsson, Researcher within the Technoscience Research group, Centre for Gender Research, Uppsala University

- Mr. Stefan Mikaelsson, President of Sámi Parliament Plenary Assembly, Sámi Parliament of Sweden, affiliated to the Technoscience Research group

- Dr. Margaretha Uttjek, Department of Social Work, Umeå University

- Dr. May-Britt Öhman,  Leader of the Technoscience research group, Centre for Gender Research, Uppsala University, chair of UPPSAM, the association for Sámi related research in Uppsala, deputy member of the Sámi Parliament, member of board of SSR,( the National Sámi Association) and member of board of the Sámi cultural association Silbonah Sámesijdda.
