Academics from Mozambique visit the Centre
The Centre for Gender Research had a visit from a delegation of Mozambican academics from the University Eduardo Mondelane (UEM) in Maputo, 12–19 March 2022.
The UEM, together with the Centre for Gender Research, Uppsala University, and the University of the Free State, South Africa, are part of a 5-year SIDA-funded programme on gender mainstreaming. The programme includes training MA and PhD students from UEM in gender research, supporting the development of gender sensitive policies, and training gender equality ambassadors at UEM. Professor Gabriele Griffin is the coordinator for this initiative at Uppsala University.
The Mozambican delegation consisted of five PhD students in the SIDA-funded project who are also academic staff at UEM, three PhD supervisors from UEM, and the coordinators of the project from Free State and UEM. The purpose of their visit was to experience an intensive writing week in support of their PhDs, as well as have lectures on gender and methodology issues.
It was a successful week of writing, as well as social engagements with the Centre and exploring the city of Uppsala, and we hope to be able to repeat the experience in the not too distant future.
