Abstract: In this talk, we will explore deep learning-based image segmentation methods that enable the quantification of brain regions using non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These techniques facilitate the automatic investigation of brain iron and neuromelanin, crucial biomarkers for understanding neurodegenerative disorders.

Furthermore, we will discuss how these advanced approaches represent a significant step toward developing time efficient, fully automated, and non rater-dependent methods. Such innovations have the potential to revolutionize clinical applications and large-scale neuroimaging studies, making neurodegenerative disease diagnosis and monitoring more efficient and accessible.

This is a lecture in the seminar series held by CIM (Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematics).
