The Center for Photon Science at Uppsala University invites you a seminar series over zoom on some scientific opportunities with X-rays presented by leading scientists.
The mission of the Swedish Materials Science beamline (SMS) is to provide a state-of-the-art high-energy synchrotron radiation facility to the Swedish materials science community. Therefore a new beamline, P21, has been constructed and is in user mode since August 2019. The beamline consists of independent in-line and side branches. The in-line branch is optimized for the combination of wide and small angle scattering and imaging. The techniques are applied mainly for the in situ and in operando characterization of polycrystalline bulk materials and surface catalysis and electro-chemistry. The side-branch provides a broad bandwidth beam for materials physics applications including disordered and nano-structured materials. The beamline instrumentation and access mode will be described and illustrated by case studies. Opportunities by the planned PETRA IV upgrade will be indicated.
