Welcome to the workshop, “Introduction to physiologically based modelling (PBPK/PBBM) in drug development,” co-organized by NordicPharmaTrain and the Swedish Drug Delivery Center (SweDeliver).
BACKGROUND: Understanding how drug formulations will affect the in vivo pharmacokinetic profiles of the drug is of critical importance in drug development. Physiologically based biopharmaceutics modelling, which is closely related to physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling, is an excellent tool for these predictions.
DAY 1: Workshop: Introduction to physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling in PKSim
AIM DAY 1: During the first day, you will be introduced to PBPK and PBBM, using the OSP software, including hands-on exercises. The participants will gain fundamental understanding and first-hand experience in PBPK/PBBM modelling using PK-Sim. Note that the software only runs on Windows.
DAY 2: Presentations on how PBPK/PBBM modelling is used in both academia and industry
List of invited speakers:
- Erik Sjögren, Assoc. Professor., Dept of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Uppsala University and Principal Director, PBPK & PBBM Scientific Lead, Pharmetheus AB, Sweden.
- David Dahlgren, Assoc. Professor, Dept of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Uppsala University and Principal Consultant at Link Medical.
