Prosper Emeh, PhD Student at Uppsala University’s Department of Pharmacy and SwDeliver presents his ongoing studies of the physicochemical characteristics of peptides and transient permeation enhancers (TPE), in order to explain their interaction and the interplay with gastrointestinal barriers to improving oral bioavailability.

Prosper Emeh's work is expected to improve our mechanistic knowledge of the influence of specific molecular descriptors of peptides on oral absorption. The generated data could provide more insight into the peptide/permeation enhancer axis, possibly enabling a rational selection of TPEs while considering the physical-chemical properties of the orally administered macromolecule.
The progress of the research will be assessed by an expert panel, comprised of
- Hanne Morck Nielsen, Department of Pharmacy, University of Copenhagen.
- Fredrik Frejd, Affibody Medical AB, Sweden.
- Maria Kjellsson, Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University.
Researcher Bio: Prosper Emeh holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nigeria and has practiced Clinical Pharmacy for two years. He then earned a Master of Science in Nanomedicine for drug delivery from Université Paris Cité. He developed his master’s thesis at Université Catholiqué du Louvain, where he explored the use of permeation enhancers to improve oral peptide absorption in an inflammatory bowel disease context.
