SweDeliver invites to the autumn semester's second webinar where Marco Tjakra, PhD Student at the Department of Pharmacy, presents his ongoing research with focus on improving our understanding of drug dissolution, diffusion, and absorption from the human colon with a focus on the role of the colonic mucus layer. Every other Thursday at 12.15 national competence center SweDeliver conducts webinars where we take part in ongoing research projects as well as presentations of current research techniques.
At the autumn's second webinar, Marco Tjakra, PhD Student in SweDeliver's Oral drug delivery work package, presents his research project Diffusion, dissolution, and release mechanisms for dosage forms delivering drugs to the colon: Importance of colonic mucus as a barrier to drug absorption, a work performed within COLOTAN aiming to obtain results in order to design drug delivery decision trees for colonic drug delivery as well as improved in silico models for drug absorption from the colon.
Researcher Bio Marco Tjakra has studied Biomedical Engineering in Chongqing University, China and graduated with Master of Engineering degree in 2020. His previous research involves signalling pathway in the neurovascular unit with relation of hemodynamic force and toxicology. During bachelor study in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, he was investigating antimicrobial compound from essential oil to combat oral biofilm forming bacteria. He was graduated in 2016 with Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology.
