Health-promoting event during the ‘Blodomloppet’ race

On Tuesday this week, thousands of Uppsala residents of all ages completed the walk/running race ‘Blodomloppet’. During the race, course participants in the course Health dialogue - meeting health challenges through collaboration were on site to discuss healthy use of social media and physical activity in connection with cardiovascular disease.

For the third year in a row, U-CARE's PhD candidate Frida Svedin is responsible for arranging the course, which includes a part where the course participants are responsible for arranging an external health-promoting event. The course participants can choose themselves which theme they want to communicate with the public. This year, they chose two themes: healthy relationships in social media usage, and physical activity in connection with cardiovascular disease.
Information tent focusing on conversations
On site at the Uppsala Athletics Arena, the course participants had arranged a nicely decorated information tent filled with information as well as some light refreshments for visitors, who in many cases had just finished their race. The course participants were active and started conversations with the visitors, for example by showing images and asking about their thoughts on social media usage. Visitors could also answer a quiz about physical activity for persons with cardiovascular disease, with the opportunity to win prizes. The event ran from early afternoon to late evening.
Frida Svedin is happy about what the course participants’ engagement during the event.
The course participants were incredibly talented, they were all very active and interacted with participants throughout the day, Frida says. Some of them also told about their health-promoting activities on the big stage together with Blodomloppet's host in front of almost 10,000 participants. I was so proud!
