U-CARE's PhD candidate Victoria Awortwe participated in public health conference

PhD candidate Victoria Awortwe, at the European Public Health Conference, November 2024.
Last month, U-CARE’s PhD candidate Victoria Awortwe attended the European Public Health Conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
During the conference, Victoria Awortwe presented a digital poster showcasing preliminary findings of a systematic review, which examines the prevalence and social determinants of anxiety and depression among adults in Ghana.
– I really enjoyed attending the conference, says Victoria Awortwe. I participated in several thematic sessions on public health. It was inspiring to see how many researchers are exploring topics that align closely with my own PhD project.
What is your main takeaway from the conference?
– One thought that stayed with me on the journey home was that the link between socioeconomic factors and mental health is well-established and widely recognized among researchers. But if we all are aware of these connections, how do we break down silos that hinder efforts to address inequities?
