U-CARE hosts presentation on co-designed support for older people with memory problems experiencing homelessness

Professor Penny Rapaport is a professor of psychological interventions for people with dementia, at the Division of Psychiatry at University College London.
Today, U-CARE welcomed Professor Penny Rapaport for a seminar on the development of a support intervention for staff working in homelessness hostel accommodation, with the aim of better supporting older people living with memory problems.

Professor Penny Rapaport presents her research.
The presentation drew on findings from an ethnographic study and co-design workshops involving individuals with lived experience of homelessness, alongside those delivering frontline support.
During the session, Professor Rapaport shared key insights into the co-design process, discussed challenges and opportunities identified throughout the project, and provided an update on the ongoing feasibility trial of the intervention.

Penny Rapaport's presentation attracted many curious attendees who wanted to learn more about the challenges related to research conducted in collaboration with people experiencing memory issues who are living in homelessness.
It was really valuable to see the co-design process in action. Watching the videos of the co-design process brings the collaboration to life and highlights the importance of involving people with lived experience in developing meaningful support, says Ellen Vesterlund, Research Assistant at U-CARE
We're pleased to offer this seminar as part of U-CARE’s commitment to inclusive and impactful healthcare research.
