Two of U-CARE’s PhD students, Philip Leissner and Frida Svedin, have been awarded funding in the form of a PhD student month from the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. The funding covers one month’s salary and is intended to support doctoral students in the final stages of their PhD studies.
The PhD student months were announced earlier this year as part of an internal call at the department, with priority given to students nearing their defence. The initiative is designed to offer targeted support for thesis-related work.
Philip Leissner’s PhD thesis focuses on anxiety in patients with cardiovascular disease. The aim is to highlight the importance of mental health in cardiac care and to demonstrate how specific anxiety symptoms can contribute to improved understanding and treatment in both research and clinical practice.
Frida Svedin’s PhD thesis is part of the INVOLVERA research project, where she contributes to the development of a support programme for people with dementia. Informal caregivers are involved as research partners throughout the development process.
– Being awarded a PhD student month feels like a confirmation that the work we’re doing in INVOLVERA is important. It’s encouraging to see this kind of recognition for research that involves people with lived experience, says Frida Svedin, PhD student at U-CARE.
We warmly congratulate our PhD students Philip Leissner and Frida Svedin, and look forward to following their continued progress.
