Sophie Nadia Gaber interviewed in Äldre i centrum

Docent Sophie Nadia Gaber.
U-CARE researcher, Docent Sophie Nadia Gaber, has been interviewed in the Swedish magazine Äldre i centrum about the research project ‘SOVA – Sleep Optimisation interVention for people living with dementia And their family carers’. The project adapts and develops a support programme developed in UK for sleep disturbances among people living with dementia and their family carers to a Swedish context.
The support programme, DREAMS START, includes education and support related to routines, physical activity, light exposure, and relaxation. Previous studies in the UK have shown improved sleep and good cost-effectiveness.
– Sleep disturbances are one of the most common reasons why people living with dementia are no longer able to remain at home and need to move into residential care. DREAMS START has shown positive results for sleep quality and is also cost-effective. We therefore want to make it available in Sweden, says Sophie Nadia Gaber in the interview.
The project is carried out together with people living with dementia, their family carers, and interest holders within health and social care.
