Bigger Bianca login nodes
Increasing resources of the Bianca login nodes has been much requested by our SNIC-SENS users. We are thrilled to announce that we are bumping the specs for all Bianca login nodes and extending total number of compute nodes with an additional 72x256GByte ("fat") nodes.
Increasing the number of fat nodes in Bianca has been requested by users for quite some time, and we are very pleased to announce that Bianca now has been extended with an additional 72 fat (256GB, 16 cores) compute nodes. This brings the total number of "fat nodes" in Bianca to 80. If you want to request fat nodes (or very fat 512GB nodes) for your SNIC-SENS project, please use the -C fat flag, as described in the Bianca user guide. The bump in resources for login nodes are also made possible due to the extension of fat nodes. The change has already been made and all Bianca login nodes are allocated 16GB of RAM and 2 CPU cores. This is a 2x resource increase (previously: 8GB and 1 core) and will increase the responsiveness and performance of medium-light interactive (often GUI-related) work on the login nodes.
