Holiday and New Year updates

Support over the holidays

Support staff will be reduced over the Christmas and New Year holidays. We will focus on keeping the systems running normally — expect a slower response until January 7th.

Usage fees for UPPMAX

Starting on January 1st, UPPMAX is instituting a more detailed usage fee structure and the disciplinary domains that fund UPPMAX will start to limit their subsidies to a maximum putative cost of 100,000 SEK per year and PI (corresponding to 2 million core-hours in total (160 kch/m) or 110 TB of data). More information about how fees are calculated can be found on the Terms and Fees page.

Rackham and Snowy shutdown plan

Parts of the systems have already been turned off, and useful hardware moved into Pelle. No new software will be installed on Rackham, and support for anyone using Rackham is limited. We intend to shut down Rackham and Snowy completely on January 30th.

Storage moving from Crex to Gorilla

Gorilla is the latest storage system at UPPMAX. Home directories have already been moved to Gorilla, and the software library is in progress.

Project directories will be moved in batches, probably in February. We will inform you individually when things start to happen on this front.

Happy holidays

We have counted at least 240 articles published this year with acknowledgments that mention UPPMAX, and 19 courses have been taught on our systems. We sincerely wish each and every scientist and instructor a happy winter holiday and success in the coming year.
