The Uppsala Antibiotic Center (UAC) Announces its Continued Funding and Activities for 2025-2028

The Uppsala Antibiotic Center (UAC) is happy to announce continued funding of the center by all three disciplinary domains at Uppsala University and an expanded activity plan for the period 2025-2028 to enhance research, education, and international collaboration within the field of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance.

The UAC’s doors will now open even wider to the scientific community by launching an associated research school dedicated to fostering the next generation of scientists in the field of antibiotic resistance. We now invite any PhD student whose research focuses on topics related to antibiotics and resistance in Uppsala to be associated with the UAC. By joining the school, students will gain access to a vibrant community of researchers, specialized training programs, unique opportunities for internationalization, collaboration, and professional development. This new initiative aims to support and enhance the academic journey of even more PhD students, providing them with the resources and networks necessary to advance their research and contribute to this important global health challenge.

In addition to the already established PhD courses, seminars, workshops, and scientific meetings, we now set aside funds for travel support enabling the PhD students to engage with the broader scientific community. Annual retreats for UAC-associated PhD students and faculty will provide opportunities for networking and professional development in a focused setting.

To further strengthen international collaboration, the UAC will also open a visiting fellows program within the three scientific domains at UU, inviting several visiting researchers each year, who will collaborate with local teams, bringing diverse expertise to Uppsala. Additionally, several annual workshops featuring both local and invited speakers will be organized in Uppsala to foster knowledge exchange and professional development.

The UAC's strategic plan for 2025-2028 reflects its commitment to advancing antibiotic resistance research in a multidisciplinary environment and fostering international collaboration. By investing in talent, knowledge exchange, and key events, UAC aims to keep Uppsala University at the forefront of global efforts to combat antibiotic resistance.
