Uppsala Antibiotic Center welcomes senior researchers to its growing community

The Uppsala Antibiotic Center (UAC) is expanding its network by opening membership to senior researchers, group leaders, and postdoctoral fellows at Uppsala University, SLU, and SVA. The new opportunity aims to strengthen collaboration across disciplines and deepen the collective effort to address one of today’s most pressing global challenges: antimicrobial resistance.

Since its start, UAC has served as a hub for cross-disciplinary research and education on antimicrobial and antibiotic resistance. The center brings together experts from a myriad of academic disciplines in Uppsala, uniting them around a shared goal of preserving the effectiveness of antibiotics and developing sustainable solutions for the future.

Now, the center is inviting experienced researchers to become part of its Research Community. Senior members will join an active network that already includes PhD students, early-career scientists, and PIs from different fields. This expansion is designed to encourage new collaborations, connect projects across departments, and help shape the next generation of antibiotic-related research at Uppsala University.

Membership offers more than a formal affiliation. It creates opportunities to share expertise, co-supervise students, take part in interdisciplinary workshops, and develop joint research proposals. Senior members will also have access to small hosting funds to invite collaborators for short research stays, an initiative that promotes scientific exchange and new partnerships.

By opening its doors to senior colleagues, UAC strengthens its role as a collaborative platform where ideas can cross boundaries. The center believes that solving complex problems like antibiotic resistance requires both fresh perspectives and long-term experience, and that this mix can only emerge when researchers meet, share, and work together.

Those interested in joining can find more information and submit an application through the UAC Research Community webpage.
