About the lecturer
William Haltom is Professor of Politics and Government at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. He teaches about U.S. politics, law, mass media, and writing. His latest book, Orwell's "Politics and the English Language" in the Age of Pseudocracy from 2018 [co-authored with Hans A. Ostrom], discussed an often-assigned classic as a guide to writing in the 21st century. An earlier book, Distorting the Law: Politics, Media, and the Litigation Crisis (2004) won awards from the American Political Science Association's section on law and courts and from The Law and Society Association. He is the 2020/21 Distinguished Fulbright Professor of American Studies at the Swedish Institute for North American Studies at Uppsala University.

Frida Stranne holds a PhD in Peace- and Development Research and is Senior Lecturer in Political Science at Halmstad University. Stranne has written extensively about US foreign policy and the role of think tanks in US politics. At the moment she is doing studies on Trump's and Biden's political messages on Instagram and on different challenges for democracy in the US. Stranne is affiliated at SINAS, Uppsala University
