Afghanistan: Adapting to a New Reality - A lecture with Maria Chalhoub

Maria Chalhoub is a specialist in peace process support at the Swedish Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), with a focus on inclusivity and Afghanistan. Previously, she worked with peacebuilding grassroots initiatives in the Middle East, and peace process support in Syria through the European Institute of Peace. She holds a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern and Central Asian Security Studies from the University of St Andrews.

In the lecture on the 6th of October, Maria will reflect on her experiences as an external peace practitioner providing support for an inclusive peace process in Afghanistan, as well future opportunities and challenges when it comes to supporting sustainable peace in Afghanistan given the new dynamics of the conflict, and lessons learned for the international community.
