Maria Krysan
Maria Krysan is LAS Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of Illinois Chicago. She teaches, researches, and writes about residential segregation and racial attitudes. She is co-author of "Cycle of Segregation" which offers a theoretical framework for understanding the causes of residential segregation. Her most recent book is a collaboration with the social justice artist, Tonika Lewis Johnson: "Don't Go: Stories of Segregation and How to Disrupt It". In the spring of 2025, she will be a visiting research fellow at the Department of Human Geography in cooperation with the Department of Sociology and the Institute of Housing and Urban Research.
