Maria Ojala is Professor in Socio-Ecological Resilience at the FRONT program, University of Oulu, Finland. She also works as Associate Professor in psychology at Örebro University, Sweden. Her main research interest concerns how young people think, feel, act, learn, and communicate about global environmental problem, with a specific focus on climate change. Maria is PI for two research projects financed by Forte and VR.
This seminar focuses on young people and their worry about climate change. Is this worry a motivational force, or is it rather related to low mental wellbeing? Which factors can prevent worry from turning into low wellbeing? What role does trust play? Are there gender differences regarding these aspects?

WOMHER's Lunch Seminar Series
The WOMHER lunch seminar series aims to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas among PhD students, researchers, and others interested in WOMHER’s research focus. These seminars foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration across various scientific fields.
The lunch seminars are organized four times per semester, with hosting responsibilities rotating among different disciplinary domains to ensure broad representation. All seminars are held via Zoom, and the same link is used for all sessions to facilitate participation.
