Call for application for PhD students to attend the BUP Science and Sail
The BUP now opens the applications for a limited number of PhD students to join the Science and Sail. Accepted PhD students will have a unique opportunity to take part in the full program, along with the students, while also practicing their teaching and mentoring skills. Each PhD student will be assigned to support a group of 8 international students and supporting them in contextualising the work.
The event that takes place in Klaipeda, Lithuania, on 3-9 July, aims to increase the participating students’ knowledge of the sensitive Baltic Sea Environment. The event is primarily targeting bachelor and master students, but we are now accepting a limited number of PhD students to participate.
The role of participating PhD students
Each PhD student will join one group of students as their interdisciplinary mentor, as they study the Baltic Sea Environment with experts from the field. They will support the students to contextualise their findings into the context of their expertise. Accepted PhD students are also welcome to give short lecture or workshop for the students during the event.
Since the role of the PhD students will differ from the participating students, we will require and select them on a different basis. It is meritorious if the applicant has a interest in teaching, pedagogical work and supervision, but it is not required. PhD students from BUP participating universities from all different academic fields and interdisciplinary experiences are welcome to apply.
The last application date for PhD students is 29 May.
