The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is part of EU’s Horizon 2020 which focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation in different areas. Uppsala University is an active participant in three of EIT’s six knowledge and innovation communities – EIT InnoEnergy (since 2010), EIT Health (since 2015) and EIT Raw Materials (since 2015). The cooperation in these innovation communities happens both at the national and European level with other higher education institutions and industry. EIT Health also includes the public sector. Uppsala University contributes to these communities through courses, innovation projects and business-furthering activities.
Another strategic innovation programme where Uppsala University is both a participant and coordinator is Internet of Things Sweden.
