Short presentation
I study the ecology and evolution of tree populations using fossil and modern DNA data. I am interested in studying how trees responded in the past to the climatic events of the last ice ages. This will hopefully also help understanding what is going to happen in the future in response to anthropogenic climate changes.
Biography
I started as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ecology and Genetics in 2007, after my PhD with Alfred Szmidt at the Swedish Agricultural University in Umeå and my post-doc with KD Bennett’s and Martin Lascoux at Uppsala University. I achieved docentur (Associate Professorship) in 2012 at Uppsala University and during 2008-2012 I was holding a research position funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Carl Trygger Foundation. From January 2014 I hold a second VR research position.
-----
Research in my lab focuses on the ecology and evolution of forest tree populations using fossil and modern DNA data. I am interested in studying how genetic variation and demographic history of trees have been shaped in natural populations during the climatic events of the last hundred thousands of years.
