Short presentation
I work in aesthetics and the philosophy of art, with a particular interest in the nature and rational structure of aesthetic valuing. Currently, I hold a postdoctoral award from the Swedish Research Council for the project "Aesthetic Rationality: Coherence and Respect".
Biography
I am the recipient of an International Postdoc Grant from the Swedish Research Council (2024-2027). My project, titled "Aesthetic Rationality: Coherence and Respect" investigates whether two of our main aesthetic attitudes—namely, judging an object as aesthetically valuable and aesthetically liking it—are subject to coherence requirements. The project is based both at Uppsala University and the University of Southampton.
Recent publications include work on the nature of aesthetic taste, the epistemology of aesthetic emotions, rational requirements and aesthetic akrasia.
In 2019, I was awarded the Fabian Dorsch Essay Prize from the European Society for Aesthetics. In 2021, I received the Irene Chayes New Voices Award, organised by the American Society for Aesthetics.
I completed my PhD (Aesthetic Valuing and the Self) at Uppsala University in 2023. Before moving to Sweden, I worked as an art gallery assistant. Before this, I completed an M.A. in Art History at Autonomous University of Madrid— in collaboration with the Museum Reina Sofía (2014)—, and a degree in Philosophy at the University of Murcia (2013).
