My scholarly interests primarily concern the Roman culture – both within the Roman Empire and beyond its borders – in the period 100 BC to AD 400. Within this wider area of research, I have devoted myself to a number of sub-disciplines:

• Food and Drink in the Roman Era: Foodways, Tastescapes and food production

• Ancient Folklore: oral traditions and supernatural creatures

• Roman glass from excavations in Greece, Italy, Portugal, Israel, Scotland and Sweden

• Roman Social History
