Short presentation

My research concerns the history of ancient textual criticism. In my dissertation, I plan to examine, inter alia, (1) how the risk of scribal errors affected the capacity of important Greek and Latin texts to exercise authority, (2) how competence in textual criticism was constructed as an educational ideal, and (3) text-critical awareness and discourse more generally in antiquity. The main focus will be on the second century CE, with authors such as Galen, Aulus Gellius, and Origen.
