Research

As a global health researcher, the main focus of Mats Målqvist’s research has been on the implementation of interventions for improved maternal and child health in Sweden as well as in low and middle-income settings, where he has participated in and led research projects in Vietnam, Nepal, Uganda and Tanzania. He has been working in Eswatini, leading and implementing a community-based peer support intervention addressing socio-economic barriers to health. Structural determinants of health is another focus area of Prof Målqvist, exploring inequities in health and the impact of different interventions on unjust differences in health outcome and social sustainability.
