Postdoctoral research position in International Business –

The Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University invites applications for one postdoctoral position in international business.

Position details

  • Duration: Up to three years, subject to annual performance review.
  • Start date: Negotiable by mutual agreement.
  • Salary: Internationally competitive (scholarship).
  • Research support: Generous funding for international travel and conference attendance.
  • Duties: Primarily research-focused, with an eventual small teaching load of no more than 10% of annual working time. There are no administrative obligations.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in international business or a closely related field (e.g. international marketing or strategy), received (from a non-Swedish institution) between January 2022 and June 2025. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly research, quantitative methods, and publishing.

Research focus

The postdoc will study areas related to “how global uncertainty, such as geopolitical tensions and global supply chain (GVC) resilience, shapes international business activities, markets, and societies”. The successful candidate will:

  1. Drive an independent research agenda aligned with this theme.
  2. Contribute to ongoing departmental projects and foster synergies with their own work.
  3. Publish in leading academic journals and present at international conferences.

About the Department

The Department of Business Studies is a vibrant environment for research and teaching with approximately 130 staff members and a complete graduate program. The IB (International Business) research group has a long tradition of collaboration with other universities in the Nordic countries and currently comprises about ten core faculty members and ten affiliated researchers.
