Batteries Sweden - a new competence center for battery research
The Center for Swedish Batteries, "Batteries Sweden", is a brand new competence center for battery research that will start on February 6-7. The center is a collaboration between different universities and companies and will be coordinated by Uppsala University with Kristina Edström and Daniel Brandell, at the Ångström Advanced Battery Center, Department of Chemistry - Ångström, as project managers.
In addition to Uppsala University, Chalmers, KTH and the Rise research institute are part of the business, together with some 15 companies, including ABB, Volvo, Scania and Northvolt. The center will be focusing on research to create new types of lightweight, inexpensive, environmentally friendly and safe batteries with ultra high energy storage capability. The official start is on March 1 and the center is supported by Vinnova.
More information about the project can be found as a news item on Uppsala University's central website. (In Swedish.)
