New funding for research for a sustainable society
Six researchers at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström have been awarded funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation's new investment in research for a sustainable society, the WISE project.
WISE, the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability, is an investment by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) in research that creates the conditions for a sustainable society and is the largest ever investment in materials science in Sweden.
The investment, which includes a total of SEK 2.7 billion for the period 2022 – 2033, has now distributed its first research grants. Of the 90 projects granted support this year, 13 of these are at Uppsala University, of which 6 are awarded to researchers at the Department of Chemistry - Ångström: Gerrit Boschloo, Erik Johansson, Sascha Ott, Henrik Ottosson, Haining Tian and Chao Zhang.
The purpose of the research program Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability is to create the conditions for a sustainable society through new and improved materials and manufacturing processes. These should also enable better technology for future energy systems and the fight against pollution and toxic emissions.
