Professor Kristina Edström is awarded the Bror Holmberg medal
The Swedish Chemical Society has decided to award Professor Kristina Edström, Structural Chemistry, the Bror Holmberg medal for 2023 for her outstanding efforts in Swedish and international battery research.
The Bror Holmberg Medal is awarded for outstanding chemical research efforts.
Kristina Edström's scientific profile is batteries and electrode materials, including lithium-ion, lithium-air and sodium-ion batteries. Among other things, her research has concerned new anode materials and self-repairing batteries.
In recent years, Kristina Edström has been a key person in the implementation of the major European research initiative BATTERY 2030+. She was previously Dean of research at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University and Chair of the research program STandUp for Energy.
Justification:"The Swedish Chemical Society has decided to award Professor Kristina Edström, Uppsala University, the Bror Holmberg medal for her outstanding efforts in Swedish and international battery research. She has been a pioneer in the use of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to decipher the structure and composition of functional phase boundaries and interfaces in battery materials and with strong leadership she has made the research field visible and stimulated collaborations across countries and disciplinary boundaries."
The medal award will take place during the Celsius-Linnaeus lectures on 15 February, 2024, at 14:30 hrs, in room Sonja Lyttkens, at the Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University.
