Three new docents at the department

Docenter

Anders Brantnell, Michał Zawadzki, Jens Eklinder Frick

At the end of January, the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering organized three docent lectures in Engineering Science with Specialisation in Industrial Engineering and Management. A docent lecture serves as a teaching demonstration for those applying to be appointed as a docent. The promotion is approved by the docent committee after an external reviewer has certified the applicant's research competence.

First up was Anders Brantnell, who lectured on the development of medical technology products that meet customer needs. After providing an overview of product development methodology, he narrowed the focus of his lecture to design thinking as a method for developing medical technology products.

The following day, it was Michał Zawadzki’s turn to lecture on leadership in technology-intensive organizations. After defining these organizations as enterprises whose success is built on technology, he delved into the effects of leadership in digital apps. He discussed how distance and anonymity in apps influence how workers are treated.

Lastly, Jens Eklinder Frick gave a lecture on innovation from an interorganizational perspective, both in practice and policy. He began by highlighting innovation from a network perspective, emphasizing the importance of aligning it with previous investments and relationships. He then discussed the development of regional innovation support, which often focuses on geographically concentrated clusters.

On Friday, February 14, the docent committee approved all three applicants – we extend our warmest congratulations!
