The Third Wave of the Liberation Struggles in Africa: From Anti- to De-Colonisation
How can we understand the spate of resurgent nature of agitations, protests
and violence in postcolonial Africa? What do they mean for our understanding
of contemporary Africa? Drawing on primary and secondary sources, I argue
that the efflorescence of these contemporary (re)actions speak to the efforts of
the people for a third wave of liberation struggle. The third wave of liberation
struggle builds on the first pre-independent anti-colonial, and second
postcolonial democratisation struggles. The study contributes to our
understanding of the limits of decolonisation processes in postcolonial Africa.
