The seminar will be held in Swedish.
Sofia Wanström (Åbo Akademi University) will be the guest at the department’s research seminar in ethnology. She will present the recently launched project (in Swedish) Singelskap. Unga kvinnors upplevelser av att vara singel i Svenskfinland, as well as an introductory study within the project entitled (in Swedish) Singelkvinnan som monster.

Sofia Wanström was awarded her PhD in Nordic Folkloristics in 2023 with the dissertation When the Dam Burst: Perspectives of Genre and Tellability in Testimonies of Rape, which analysed testimonies collected during a Finland-Swedish #MeToo campaign in 2017. The project on singlehood is her postdoctoral research, within which she continues to explore themes such as women’s experiences, narrative, gender and power.
