Female leadership in Burkina Faso

A transfer of power to the municipal level has opened up opportunities for women to take the lead in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Still, change has been slow.

During 2019, Professor Sten Hagberg, together with a team of other anthropologists from Burkina Faso, tried to find out why this is the case. It is all part of the research project Burkina Faso seen from below.

A book with the research results will be published, initially in French, and later in English, in the Uppsala Papers in Africa Studies series.
