Egypt as a project: Dream work and masculinity in a planned society (Swedish: Egypten som projekt: Drömarbete och maskulinitet i ett projekterat samhälle) is Carl Rommel's research work and is financed by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond. Carl is our anthropologist who specializes in contemporary Egypt. The podcast Staden (in English: the City) traveled to Nasr City in Cairo, Egypt to try to understand what kind of cities are emerging there and why. In collaboration with Carl - who showed around and narrated - the first episode of two is about the New Towns project that the military is building in the desert and about the informal neighborhoods that are emerging bit by bit on Cairo's farmland.
