Book talk: Burkina Faso seen from below in 2023

April 18th, Uppsala University’s Forum for Africa Studies hosts a seminar with Professor Ludovic O. Kibora, Director of Institut des Sciences Sociétés in Burkina Faso, and Professor Sten Hagberg. They will talk about the English edition of their new book Security from below in Burkina Faso Citizen perceptions and perspectives 2023.

The year of 2022 was dramatic for the Burkinabe two coups d’état, escalating insecurity community conflicts, mobilisation against French army, pro Russian demonstrations, etc. Prospects look grim when one considers the fragility of state power and of society at large. What was unthinkable a few years ago armed groups controlling a large part of the national territory, successive coups d’état, and the suspension of the democratic regime is now a reality. In this seminar, long term partner to Uppsala University, Prof Kibora talks with Prof Sten Hagberg about the English edition of their new book Security from below in Burkina Faso Citizen perceptions and perspectives 2023.

Date & Time: Tuesday 18 April, 15.15 17.00 CET
Venue: ENG3 2028 , Engelska Parken. Possibility to join via Zoom.
