Southeast Asia and Oceania are key regions hosting unique archaic hominins and some of the planet's most diverse present-day ethnolinguistic groups. In this lecture, Dr Larena will present the migratory patterns, genetic admixture, and cultural exchanges that have shaped the genetic landscape and demographic history of human populations in these regions for the past 50,000 years.
The lecture, which is a teacher assessment for the applicant, should be accessible to students and others with bachelor-level education in biology as well as capture the interest of a wider audience. The lecture will last 45 minutes followed by questions and discussions. The lecture will be given in English.
