We are interested in investigating human prehistory.

Jaw from a human skull

Many groups of people have existed through time. These people have met, interacted, migrated and changed. We perform state-of-the-art ancient DNA-analyses using bones from these people and combine the genomic data with information on archaeological contexts, radiocarbon dating and stable isotope analyses. This enables us to generate knowledge on both individual life-histories (such as sex, kinship, diet and mobility) and about population demographic patterns (such as genomic ancestry, gene-flow, sex-specific demography and population size fluctuations). We are, for example, examining how individuals within Scandinavian Stone Age burial grounds relate to one another and to other pre-historic populations.
