Grant from AFA försäkring to IGP researchers

Angelica Loskog, Gunilla Enblad and Magnus Essand have been awarded a research grant of SEK 4.6 million for a study on cell therapy for leukemia and lymphoma.

In the funded project the IGP researchers, together with Pontus Blomberg at Vecura, Karolinska Hospital, are conducting a clinical trial where CAR T cells are used for lymphoma and leukemia therapy. In this method the patient’s own cells are reinforced by gene technology to better recognise and kill cancer cells.

‘AFA försäkring has previously financed an initial study, where the first 15 patients were treated. We are very happy that this grant now allows us to continue the study’, says Angelica Loskog.
