IGP doctoral student Hannah Karlsson has received the Hwasser prize
The Hwasser prize for best pre-clinical PhD thesis in the 2014/2015 season was awarded Hannah Karlsson.
She receives the prize for the thesis ”CD19-targeting CAR T Cells for Treatment of B Cell Malignancies: From Bench to Bedside”, in which she describes the use of CAR T cells for treating leukemia and lymphoma. The prize was handed over at the annual meeting of Upsala Läkareförening on September 16. Hannah Karlsson is presently working as a researcher in the research programme Clinical Immunology at IGP.
The Hwasser prize was founded by Upsala Läkareförening to honour the memory of Israel Hwasser, one of Uppsala’s most famous medical scientists. The Hwasser prize foundation is based on a donation to Uppsala University in 1861 by the king Karl XV “to honour Professor Israel Hwasser’s excellent qualities as teacher and scientist”.
Two prizes are awarded, for the best pre-clinical and clinical theses respectively. This year’s prize was for 15 000 SEK.
