Latvia’s president visits IGP
Today, the president of Latvia visited Uppsala, Uppsala University and IGP. In the late afternoon he came to the Rudbeck Laboratory together with the Rector of the University of Latvia to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in research and education.
The president was on an official visit in Sweden, due to the because of the hundred-years anniversary of of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Latvia, and the thirty-years anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations. During his visit in Uppsala the Governor of the Uppsala Province Göran Enander invited the Latvian delegation for lunch at the castle and they also met with Uppsala University’s Vice-Chancellor Anders Hagfeldt at a visit and seminar in the University building.
The Memorandum of Understanding, that was signed by Indriķis Muižnieks, Rector of the University of Latvia, and IGP’s Head of Department Tobias Sjöblom during the visit at IGP, aims to facilitate collaboration in cancer research and biobanking.
