Richard Rosenquist Brandell selected as Wallenberg Clinical Scholar
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has decided to select Richard Rosenquist Brandell as Wallenberg Clinical Scholar, which means that he will receive a research grant of 15 million SEK for a five-year period.
Richard Rosenquist Brandell’s research focuses on the blood cancer type chronic lymphocytic leukemia. His goal is to increase the understanding of mechanisms behind disease development, to improve and optimize the diagnostic and prognostic information, and to reveal new strategies for therapy.
The programme Wallenberg Clinical Scholars aims to strengthen Swedish clinical research by identifying the best clinical researchers, give them good possibilities to perform their activities and implement the results of their research, both scientifically and in health care. The programme was initiated in 2014 and this year, in addition to Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Birgitta Henriques Normark at Karolinska Institutet was also selected as Wallenberg Clinical Scholar.
