The Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation has decided to grant funding for 30 research projects on COVID-19. One of the grants is awarded Jan Dumanski for the project Acquired loss of chromosome Y in blood cells and pre-disposition for severe COVID-19 infection in men.
The awarded grants will support research that intends to increase the knowledge about both acute and long-term effects of COVID-19. The focus is on ensuing courses of COVID-19 where the disease has caused late complications on the heart, vessels and lungs. In total, SEK 15.7 million has been granted, out of which Uppsala University researchers receive 2.5 million.
