Mock defense of Pascale Wehbe’s dissertation manuscript with the working title: "Trajectories of Bilingualism: A Longitudinal Study of Arabic‑Swedish‑speaking Children’s Language Development".

This dissertation investigates the language development of typically developing Arabic–Swedish bilingual children growing up in Sweden. Using a longitudinal design, the study follows a subgroup of children who were first assessed at 4–5 years of age and later reassessed at 9–10 years of age. The dissertation examines how their bilingual language proficiency develops over time, how their performance in Swedish compares to monolingual norms, and how individual differences in language outcomes can be understood in relation to linguistic performance and background factors.
