Former Vice-rector Stellan Sandler is awarded the Gustaf Adolf Medal
Stellan Sandler, professor of medical cell biology and former Vice-rector at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, is awarded the older Gustaf Adolf Medal in gold for his significant contributions to Uppsala University.

Uppsala University's consistory has decided to award the older Gustaf Adolf medal in gold to Professor Stellan Sandler for his significant contributions to Uppsala University.
Stellan Sandler has worked for quality within research and education as well as continuous development at faculty-, disciplinary domain-, university- and national level. Few have held so many different prominent positions in the Disciplinary Domain of medicine and pharmacy. These include assignments as Vice-rector for the Disciplinary Domain of medicine and pharmacy (2014-2020) and as Dean for the Faculty of medicine (2011-2014). Stellan Sandler also conducts successful research in the field of diabetes.
With his calm, inclusive and collaborative way, Stellan Sandler has developed the Disciplinary Domain of medicine and pharmacy’s operations during an expansive period and has always worked for the benefit of students, research and the university.
The older Gustaf Adolf Medal (Hedlinger Medal) is awarded to "a person who, through significant gifts to Uppsala University or through such service at the university, who has been associated with special responsibility and trust, or otherwise made extraordinary merits about the university".
